On Saturday, April 27, business leaders and members of the community will gather for Lourdes University’s signature fundraising event, Luminations. Allan and Susan Block will serve as Honorary Chairs for the event, which takes place in the Franciscan Center. Nicole Cappelletty, an undergraduate student majoring in psychology, will serve as the student speaker for the evening. Last summer, Nicole landed a highly competitive internship with the Bureau of Consular Affairs at the American Embassy in London.
Beginning at 6 p.m., guests will celebrate an evening of cocktails, grazing stations and a fabulous silent auction. This year’s event features live music from The Berlin Brothers, Broadway’s Timothy Shew, the Toledo Opera, and the Toledo Symphony Jazz Trio. The Toledo Ballet will perform a sneak preview, especially for Lourdes’ Luminations guests, of their upcoming 2014 performance titled From Heart to Quill. An original Michael Lang production, From Heart to Quill explores the intertwined and spiritual connection that a composer has with each musical masterpiece created.
“Each year we are thrilled to spend an evening with our community and friends, celebrating Toledo’s talented artists, while also raising funds for our students,” expresses Mary Arquette, Vice President for Institutional Advancement. “Lourdes is very blessed to have many wonderful supporters, whose generosity provides one of life’s most precious gifts – the gift of a college education!”
2013 Platinum Sponsors include Block Communications, Inc., Mass Mutual Financial Group, and Sylvania Franciscan Health. Since its inception, more than 40 corporate sponsors, close to 4,000 guests and countless organizations have helped Luminations raise more than $1.6 million for students. Tickets are $125 per person.
