The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) announced Ryan Wronkowicz from Lourdes University as the Mike Dean SID of the Year for the 2012-13 school year. The honor, named after long-time WHAC statistician Mike Dean of Aquinas, recognizes outstanding sports information professionals as chosen by SIDs in the conference.
Wronkowicz, a 1999 graduate of Bowling Green University, joined the Lourdes staff in July 2012 after 12 years on the staff at Valparaiso University. While at Valpo, he held the positions of assistant sports information director (2000-05), assistant director of athletics for media relations (2005-09), and associate director of athletics for media relations (2009-12). He earned his master’s degree in sports administration in 2005.
“Ryan added an entire different look for us,” said Lourdes athletics director Andre Smith. “The time and commitment he dedicated has shown throughout the entire campus. Lourdes is lucky to land a person of his caliber.”
Since his arrival, Lourdes athletics has seen an increased presence in various social media outlets and in national awards. The Gray Wolves saw six CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees and the school’s first Daktronics-NAIA All-America Scholar Athletes. In addition, the athletics website received constant attention with fresh and relevant stories.
“The job Ryan has done promoting Lourdes’ athletic department is tremendous,” said Smith. “He has taken us to new heights at both the conference and national levels.”
