Lourdes President David J. Livingston, PhD, is pleased to announce the appointment of Geoffrey J. Grubb, PhD, as Provost. His appointment comes after Lourdes’ Interim Provost Keith Schlender, PhD, retired in July. Dr. Grubb began the post August 1, and will assume the role for two years, with the institution beginning a national search in the fall of 2014.
Dr. Grubb has been a member of the Lourdes community for 28 years, and has served in various capacities from Professor and Chairperson of Religious Studies to Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs to most recently Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. During his time at Lourdes, he has worked in the areas of academic program review, distance learning, enrollment management, faculty rank & promotion, mission awareness, scholarship, graduate education and technology. He holds a master’s degree in theology from The Catholic University of America, and bachelor’s and doctoral degrees in theology/historical theology from Saint Louis University. Dr. Grubb is a member of the American Conference of Academic Deans, The Catholic Theological Society of America, and The College Theology Society. Locally, he serves on the Board of Saint Francis de Sales High School.
“I am pleased to welcome Dr. Grubb as Lourdes’ new Provost,” shares Dr. Livingston. “He has the experience and vision to lead the academic side of the University over the next two years and I am confident that he will serve the institution well in this new role, as he has already done in his 30+ years in higher education.”
Dr. Grubb’s plans for the coming academic year include, working with academic departments in developing class schedules that better serve the needs of our diverse body of students, initiating the development of new undergraduate program offerings and celebrating the scholarly achievements of the Lourdes faculty.
